I recently sat down and spoke with Peter Grogan, wine, food and travel writer and author of the very witty and enlightening Grogan's Companion to Drink: The A to Z of Drink.  I asked him what he thought the sexiest drink was and he said without a doubt, the Lychee Martini. The very mention of it sent shivers down my 5 inch heels. Couldn't wait to try it. I did alter his recipe a bit by halving the lychee liqueur and the syrup as I prefer the drink less sweet. However, I do agree with his notion that one should serve them in "whatever glasses sit best on the side of the bath (assuming there are two of you)."

Shoe review:  Diego Dolcini heels, sensual and elegant, like the martini itself.  Perhaps the drink should be called "The Dolcini".

The Lychee Martini for Two

  • 4 oz gin
  • 2 oz lychee liqueur
  • 2 oz lychee syrup (the liquid in the can of lychee nuts)
  • ice
  • lychee nuts for garnish

Combine all the ingredients except the lychee nut in a cocktail shaker.  Shake. I like to let it sit for a minute to water down a bit.  Pour in glasses. Garnish with lychees.  Draw a bath.
